I don't want to enlarge that comment section any further...
We got those "empty templates" things going, maybe we could gather some basic things, like posting and arranging mass pictures or smth like, too? it would be more like a "Tutorial" than "Timeline of Events"... I didn't know myself, the solution you posted. I would have done it with div and align and such
Well, using div is better since each div could have auto-align depending if the image fit on the same row or not. But in this case i used a table adjusting the sizes to have 4 per row (since them were 8 images).
Maybe we can make a template to place mass images like you said, but i'm completely sure that people won't use it and this will give us more work than other thing.
yes... or at least samples of codes we use... the div class align style things... or a link to a tutorial page. I think there are a lot of good pages like that, already. even with online compiler. we don't need to do it ourselves, but could provide input.
I understand what you say, but unfortunately you're assuming that everyone is interested on learn code, would be cool if it would be true, but you perfectly know that isn't like this.
Time ago we added a css code to set the max-size on images posted on comments, maybe i can take another look to see if i can set auto-align, since is completely true that when a guy publish various images it result in a long comment.
Imo the embedding of the video on this page isn't copying the video. cause the file is not hosted here. it's embedded, not copied. if you start doing that with videos, you have to question every single picture. I get, that we got to ask before changing pages and code, cause it can mess stuff up, but you would need loads of people, checking every single video and picture.
It would be easier to lock the option, to edit title and description of the video. I take this video as example. I didn't edit anything, so every other user could see where it comes from. Why bother checking every video, instead of locking the editing part?
I checked the community central page and other fandoms. since it is embedding and you are able to visit the original channel, on which the video is hosted, there is no issue! even tho some adds will not be played on embedded videos, there is no issue! that rule is wrong for so many reasons.
You're taking it to the extreme, the rules also say that any breach of them could result in a warning, and we are not doing it when people add SA videos on character pages. Take the rule as a way to cover us and prevent mass videos.
yes, I get you on that. I tend to take things to the extreme. Fact is, I did read loads of stuff to check out that rule. And the policies on other pages state two cases: a copied video, where the file is hosted on a fandom and the second case, when a video is embeded. If a Video is embeded, so that the source is available, there is no issue, if the embedded video is presented in same form as on hosting website. So if you don't add another layer, adds, intro or outro or something, there is no issue. I appreciate you guys not warning for posting videos, but you can't warn someone if he hasn't done anything wrong in the first place. that's what bothering me.
all the pictures of "origin of art" are more arguably copyright issues, than embeded videos
I know, I know, I know. And I'm not accusing anyone here doing so. From the time the rule was made, I think it was a reaction on the EU voting on copyright laws. Back in the day it did concern me and I did read a lot of stuff on it.
Spamming videos would be "spamming", so no arguing about that, that this one is covered by the spamming rule.
The EU Copyright Votum was all about monetizing. So if a) creates content b) is just under strict reglemantion allowed to use it. the creator should not be stripped from copyright his content by facebook, youtube, etc so easily.
So every changing or monetizing that content, without the permisson of copyright holding party can be sanctioned more easily. the obligation to check for copyright issues is soon to be done by hosting parties (uploadfilter). if a file is embeded, the source is accessable and via embedding is no change to the original content (no extra adds, etc), the obligation to check for copyrightissues lies still in the hands of the hosting party (youtube, etc). so if you not state you created the content or are trying to monetize it and are just providing access to the monetizing party (youtube still get's it view counts, even tho the video is embedded), the embedding party can't ne issued with copyrightviolations.
that's why I wonder that rule exists at all. not to point the finger on you guys! you know, that I think that you're doing a great job
Your reasoning is absolutely correct, but sometimes the theory isn't near to the reality.
Imagine a possible situation, you're part of the staff or even the owner of a wikia. You don't have a rule like this, Fandom allow embed videos, a guy made a video insulting a company, the youtube algorhitm doesn't detect it to delete the video and a guy embed the video on the wikia. You're not allowed to delete the video since Fandom allow it like you said, right?
Youtube allow it, Fandom allow it, your wikia allow it, but isn't a good video to have embeded. Isn't more easy have your own filter if you detect something wrong?
Sometimes have some rules isn't to forbid just for forbid, if something is politically wrong we have this rule, that's all.
Another thing, why isn't allowed now publish Eza Ideas on character pages if there isn't nothing related in Fandom rules? Basically cuz we have decided that pages were extremelly crowded of those ideas and was annoying read comments and just find... "Eza Idea" "Possible Eza Idea" "Here my Eza Idea" etc....
You are allowed to remove the video, since it's insulting someone or racist or smth. that would be covered by vandalising, spamming or insulting rules. so, that theoretical case is covered, anyway.
it should follow this steps: video get's embedded, somebody feels insulted, reports it, the embedding get's removed. legal issues on youtube shouldnt concern us. fandom themselve uses youtube for own created content and allows embedding youtube videos. if there was an issue, there would be no such option.
your last point is adressing some other issue. the comment section got filled with that sort of posts. but to keep a talk in comments going or prove your point, not beeing able to post a video is disproportionally. it's very userunfriendly.
the thing is, I'll still not be able to use it, cause Poky is on to me. I'll train this wolf to fight Pokémon, in an arena or smth. I'll film it and make a show out if it, "Pokéwars" or "PokéBumFights".
Thank you my friend, you have always friendly words for us ^^
Is only that this guy have always the complaint in his mouth, we can't do nothing without receive a complaint and not happy with it he's always laughing in us face. He know that is protected and he becomes the victim, crying and saying that the staff is bulling him.
He pretend give us lessons to how make stuff when the 90% of his edits are wrong, not even remember to close the balises at end, his wikia is a whole disaster and he want give us lessons when we're spending a lot hours trying to make good stuff while he's behind of cameras complaining every edit.
I'm a calmed person, but this guy make my blood boil.
I can hear the suggestions of healty people like you, but not from a spoiled and ungrateful child, who think that we're here to please him while treats us with contempt.
is there a page, where you can learn coding step by step. maybe I could help doing that stuff, someday, too...
Not exist an easy way unfortunatelly, the only one way is be very curious and spend a lot time searching on google.
About css Matt gave me time ago this link, isn't exactly a guide, but could be similar to an API.
The better advice that i can give you is practice, try to imagine a thing that you want make/change and start the project, doesn't matter if it have errors at beginning, since the most important is have a project which make you search and practice.
Also is more easy help you with an specific thing than learn code without a goal, so if you're blocked in one specific point of the code we can help you ;)
I think that there´s not a page where is easy to see all the support cards in the game. I know that there´s the Special Skill Ki Boost but it only counts the supports that gives Ki, so supports like Toppo aren´t there and also it doesn´t gives the percentage boost they give. So i think we should change the name of the Special Skill Ki boost to Support Boost or something like that so we can add all the information that´s missing.
The Raise ATK page has an "Allies Attack Boost" section at the bottom, but I'm not quite sure if it's complete or not. (Well, technically we already know it's not complete, because it doesn't mention Ki boosts, it's basically the opposite of the Ki Boost page.)
The thing is that it has the same problem. It only say the boost they give of attack and if you wanna know if they also give Ki or defense you have to go to the page and look it. And there's also the problem of knowing if the support gives the boost to all types or if it is only for TEQ and PHY or a certain category. Having all information in one page is gonna make the choice for a support a lot more easier.
Yep, I wasn't disagreeing with you. It would take a lot of work to make that update but personally I wouldn't be opposed to that. To be honest I never use either of those pages, but I do think that the Ki Boost page doesn't show a lot of useful info right now. Maybe it did in 2016 when the page was created, but not anymore... Ki isn't that big of a deal nowadays, as it's very easy to give all units 12 or more Ki.
Well it really depends on the team and the cards you habe. Is not the same having to deal with ki with Hybrid Saiyans that with Shadow Dragons. And well i don't have problem with updating the page but im asking because i wanna know if i could do something better, like the name i proposed
The name you proposed sounds good to me. And yeah, Hybrid Saiyans is a good example, which also makes me think that for Categories it's not ideal to have everything separated by Type... but I'm sure we can figure something out, and I'm also curious to see what HowlingWolf thinks about this.
Sorry for the delay, i'm feel a bit sick these days and i'm kinda offline.
Sincerely i'm agree with you, there isn't a specific page for support characters, not even a category. To be honest i never check those pages when i have a doubt like Horus, normally when i've a doubt about a character i search directly his character page.
Make a page for all support characters actually is a lot work nowdays, but i think that's a good proposal. The question now is how would sort those characters, Ki, Atk or Def?
Time ago i made a sortable list of leader skill characters, if you want take a look is here.
Hi Roxas, i see that you already started with the support page, the only one thing is that i thing would be better make it in a new page, since the current one is linked in other pages and while you're working we would have a wrong info.
Yeah, i understand you, but how the page is linked on some other pages the people for the moment would find the current page and you can work on the new one without hurry, one time finished we can decide what do with the previous.
About a new icon for support no idea for the moment, but we have time to think on something good enough. I'm also thinking what icon make for the sortable leader skills.
And about the category for support units i thought on it time ago, but how i'm always working on too many things i had it in stand by, also would be easy add them with the work that you're doing, so no worries.
Well, first of all i want say isn't in disapproval way or destructive critic, is just a personal feeling related with my experience in the first try to understand how was sort the page, so please read this from the humly like it was wrote.
Ok, my first impression was.... why is so long the page? So i went to understand why. In that precise moment i had noticed that the tables seems a single huge block, have specific titles for every section of course, but is difficult for the view detect them at naked eye.
After multiple times scrolling the page to up and down i was be able to understand the logic behind the sort. It's separated folowing this priority, "Ki, Atk and Def", and starting from this point separated on diferent blocks.
All Types Supports Ki + Stat Boost
Super/Extreme Types Supports Ki and Stat Boost
Category Supports Ki and Stat Boost
Triple Types Supports Ki + Stat Boost
Duo Types Supports Ki + Stat Boost
Breaking down it like this, looks really good and seems easy and intuitive find whatever you want, but actually is far away.
This system not allow join characters in the same row and almost every row have a single character inside, so the page is extremely long (i know that a lot characters have a specific condition). Also there are character with similar boost arround of whole page and it gives a messy feel.
Well, until here the analytic. Of course your sorting have a lot logic and i'm not saying that it's bad, but thinking on the common user, who will not go to break down the sort i think it's a bit difficult to understand.
Ok, i have not a magic rod to do the perfect page but a critic isn't a constructive critic if not offer any alternative, so i will try to explain how i see it and what things i would change (and how) to do a most confortable experience.
Well, the first thing i would change is the priority, i know that it was not your intention, but indirectly you're assuming that KI is most important than ATK and DEF, and the ATK y most important than DEF, when actually the most important is what the user need in each moment.
My proposal is sort them together starting by stats, so the characters which have most boost are at top. For example a character with +2 +0% +40% would be above of +3 +30% +30% (even being more useful the second, but seems better to find), and when the stats are the same keep in mind the KI. So character with +3 +20% +20% would be above of +2 +20%+20%
About the blocks that you're using i think that "All Types Supports Ki + Stat Boost" and "Super/Extreme Types Supports Ki and Stat Boost" can be joined, since is already specified in the table to what types/class/categories provides the boost. And the same for "Triple Types Supports Ki + Stat Boost" and "Duo Types Supports Ki + Stat Boost".
And now i arrived to the most difficult part, sorting the caracters which have a condition. From the first time that i saw the condition column i hate it with all my forces, it provides a lot headaches and gives a dirty feel at moment to specify the condition, specially when is a long text. So i propose delete it completely and use other method, here my proposal.
When HP is 79% or belowWhen there are 2 or more "Vegeta's Family" Category allies on the teamWhen HP is 30% or aboveWhen HP is 80% or above
Or maybe other alternative (i thouhgt on this making the previously xD)
When HP is 79% or belowWhen there are 2 or more "Vegeta's Family" Category allies on the teamWhen HP is 30% or aboveWhen HP is 80% or above
One or more characters in this row have a specific condition, put your mouse over the thumbnail to know it or visit the character page for more info
EDIT: Not work correctly here in the wall, i leave you a link to my blog
Ok, until here my try to make The Bible part 2, i know that's a long text to read but i'm really interested on make a really good page because time ago that i had it in my list of things to do.
Pretty possible there a lot things that i had not in count in my proposal and by any reason it would not a good idea, so go ahead, is better be critic and have a consolidated idea before start to work instead have to change it later ;)
Well i don't know if you already see the edit i did but i separate the cards for the ones that are more focus on Ki, Attack and Defense. Is an idea i had when i saw that there are a lot of cards but i wanna ask you first before doing that change.
I was also gonna add a Ki & Defense and a Ki Attack and Defense but i didn't have time so im gonna do it later. And im gonna do the same for the rest but i don't know if i should do it with the category supports because i don't see it necessary
And about you proposal there a big problem with it. I don't know how to do it : P
Yep, i saw it, we were talking about it precisely. I understand your point of separate the cards on different tabs, but unfortunately the page can't be like this. In first place because each time that a card must be added have to be added multiple times, but most important is that the whole page is load when you enter, have the content in other tab not implies the load stops. So irrefutably the page would cause overload, since the same content must be load x5, x6, x7 or whatever tabs you make.
We're valorating the possibility to make a sortable list, since would be much more easy to do what you're trying to do, but without need to add the same content multiple times. But it requires some preparatives, since must to be cleary the priority system before start and i also should create an app to add new cards, similar like i use for leader skills, because create the code manually is a bit annoying and confusing.
